Welcome to Galazio

Hi my name is Dionissios (Dion) and I am the current owner and one of the founders of Galazio Restaurant (formerly Ouzo's Greek and Regional Cuisine).  Throughout my life I was blessed with enjoying delicious authentic Greek cuisine from my Mother, Asimina Gressis.  At a young age, I convinced her to open her own restaurant and thus, Ouzo's Greek and Regional Cuisine was born in April of 2002.  We provided local favorites and Mediterranean cuisine to Charles County residents for ten years. Over time though, the name was modernized, the location of the restaurant changed, fresh brick oven pizza's were added, and Galazio Restaurant was born; thanks to the quick thinking of my late brother, Iossif Marios Gressis during the US economic crisis in 2010.

I recently came from teaching abroad in International schools, specifically in Europe, and Asia, to return to the family business and support my parents by operating the day to day operations of Galazio Restaurant.  I was happily teaching in Germany until the tragic passing of my Brother in 2021, the previous owner and well beloved community member, of Galazio Restaurant.  I intend on keeping the atmosphere and service of the restaurant always warm, inviting, friendly and professional.  The food will always be prepared with high quality ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, authentic Feta, or mountain oregano, and the physical space will always be clean and hygienic.

Foods From the Cradle of Civiliazation

Galazio Restaurant brings Southeast Mediterranean food to two locations: La Plata Maryland, and Albion Michigan.  The matriarch of Galazio, Asimina Gressis, developed her ‘hand’ for Greek cooking by working the Greek kitchens of her Father’s restaurants in Northwest DC and from her several Aunt’s and Grandmother’s, during her younger years in Greece.  She has since served authentic Greek cuisine for more than 20 years.  Family favorites such as Spanakopita, Kalamari, Dolmades, Tzatziki, and of course street foods such as Gyros, are staples within our establishment.  For preparing these foods, we pride ourselves in using high quality ingredients that are imported from Greece such as olive oil, feta, olives, and mountain oregano.
Over time the restaurant evolved and adopted regional cuisine, for example, guests rave about our steaks, our pasta dishes, and our popular brick oven pizza.  Our wood fired brick oven Pizza’s rival any pizza found in Europes finest pizzerias.
